Call to murder victim’s friends
August 1997
‘Where did Pat stay?’
DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Sheffield mother Pat Grainger today admitted they have no fresh leads in the search for her killer.
An extensive operation at the weekend to quiz motorists and regulars out the Huntsman Pub on Barnsley Road failed to uncover any new witnesses.
Pat had told friends she used to meet a boyfriend outside the pub but police found no one nearby who remembered her.
Pat went missing from her home in Parson Cross on August 4 but her body was only discovered last Sunday in a brook off Colley Drive.
Polic have a definite siting of Pat the day before her body was found but no idea where she was staying during the time before her death.
Det Supt Derek Deakin, Who is leading the 50 officer inquiry, said that police were anxious to question wherever it was Pat was staying with.
We need whoever Pat was living with to come forward so that we can eliminate them from our enquiries.
IMPORTANT
He said they were also tracing her former friends and acquaintances to try and discover where she might have been.
“It may have been a boyfriend, who is worried that they may be implicated if they come forward, but it really is very important that we speak to them.”
